2023 BMW 228i Gran Coupe: Is The New 2 Series Worth It?

Today I drive and review a 2023 BMW 228i xDrive Gran Coupe!

Wife is aiming to get this. Test drive was great vs Audi offering. Big ding on the Audi was the brakes felt terrible. Of note, you don't have to add the packages, you can add additional items individually. Torque feels great on this unit!

Everyone talking about speed with this car like…..stop. It’s not meant for that… it’s meant to just be driven. BMW is am a amazing brand but the ones that are hating and want a fast car and better material get a Porsche taycan turbo s.

So basically, it’s the same as the 2022… the only difference is it has chrome framing the windows as opposed to black framing around the windows

I love my car. I have the 2021 model and same color. The only annoying thing is the brakes. I had to replace the rear brake pads after 18k miles. Cost me about $350. Not bad.

I think for the money (actually for a lot less money) I'd stick with my Mazda3 turbo. If it offered a manual it might sway me, but it doesn't.

My daily driver is a 2011 328i Xdrive. Had to get that vanos thing fixed on a security recall by the dealer. They gave me a 2024 228i Xd as a courtesy car. It drives LIKE A TERCEL with some more power. Steering is vague, shitty engine sound, LOTS of cheap plastic, the list goes on. What happened to BMW???

Bruh... this is not the 2 series the other automotive journalists are talking about. This is the FWD based one that EVERYONE hates. The 2 series you're referring to is the RWD coupe version. This is a glorified mini which a civic si would absolutely destroy. I'm surprised you gave this so much praise considering the number of cars you've reviewed.
