Mellick, you the man. Love you and the educational videos you provide for us for the sake of knowledge. This hands on approach with science brings to life what is mostly read about. Thank you for each and every single video and for existing lol. Wish you and your staff the best.

The best manual manipulation reduction I have had done on me for a dislocated shoulder was laying face down on the table letting my affected arm/shoulder hang off the table while holding a weight and relaxing my shoulder. Then the doctor placed pressure on my shoulder blade and at that point my shoulder went right back in. This was the least painful technique that was done to me in the many times my shoulder was out in the emergency room.

I like this method better than the face down weighted traction. Done in office with no sedation on first attempt. Pain level by a patient about 6-7 when underlying pain was about a 4 at rest. However, I put my socked foot in the axilla to consistent traction force with the nurse, maintaining my balance bracing my shoulders from behind as abduct, then externally rotate. Happy patient!

Dr. Mellick looks like he’s trying to pump some water out of a well with that technique.

Great stuff, just found the channel. Going in to nursing and I like to get some idea as to how certain procedures are done.

I tried this, and it converted from an anterior dislocation to an inferior dislocation. Any thoughts to what I may have done wrong?

You know when you're a reduction ninja? When you can do this with ZERO parenteral meds or intracapsular lidocaine. S-L-O-W oscillations at 2 Hz and go from ADduction to 90 degr over about 2 minutes (just fatiguing the hell outta the capsule) and I've often had it reduce BEFORE the 90 degr point and supination

I am a little surprised about the choice of agents for procedural sedation.

Dislocations are really bad. I have a bad experience with dislocations. I remember twisting my Achilles tendon in 2010 and couldn't normally walk for like 3 days until I was treated. Very bad experience 💯

I usually have my husband pull my arm out and up while I bite on a towel and brace myself on a door jam. 🤷🏻‍♀️
