The 260 acres of Savannah Grass are the lungs of Port of Spain, Trinidad. A place of artistic expression and recreation. As a people we have shared so many magical moments in this sweet botanical, with each other and the world. We celebrate and honour all who make this place the source of culture and good vibes year after year. We go make them jump and free up!!

I am Jamaican but when I listen to this song it speaks to a people with a unique culture. Let us protect what is ours and keep the culture strong.

I CRIED! AT WORK ! listening to this! I dont know why but this made me think of growing up in St Lucia- the simple things that were so good then - getting a dollar from my grand father (RIP) to go buy a bag of plums. Sitting on the steps watching my grandmother cut breadfruit! This songs melody is so beautiful and joyful and sad all in one- it makes you appreciate and love your island and think about the simple things of drinking fresh coconuts and enjoying life and music with friends. I have heard this song already 27 times and I will continue to listen to it and cling to those memories it reminds me of! Thank you for this song!

The thing about this song is that this is a once in a lifetime song. It may not have won road march that year but it instills a different type of feeling in you. The emotions you get of pride, joy, peace, happiness and the feeling of unity you get will surpass any title. Years will come and go but this will always remain as one of the best Soca songs ever made. So many years later and you still get the goosebumps as if you're hearing it for the first time. 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹

It's unfortunate that many people reduce our culture to the sexualization of women but I've stopped explaining that there is more to it. This song embodies the true essence of carnival and what it is about. I'm so emotional!!

My dad is from Trinidad, but I was born in the US. I love listening to Trinidad songs, I feel it’s part of my heritage even if I wasn’t born there.

Does anyone else feel the Ancestors are in this song? It's like it unites past and present, hard to explain.

Even though it lost to ‘Famalay’, for 2019 Road March Song, I think ‘SAVANNAH GRASS’ will be played and remembered longer. It’s a song that touches the soul, as the essence of T&T Carnival, like none of it’s rivals except maybe ‘So Long’ - just my humble opinion‼️

All the comments have one thing in common: this song brings us home to the Caribbean, whichever country you're from, whatever your Savannah Grass is. Much love from a Jamaican born, Grenadian raised, Mexican resident.

Goosebumps and tears, I'm from the states, San Francisco, never been to Trini but love the culture. Sparrow, Calypso Rose, Lord Shorty, Machel, Destra, Patrice etc.. and Kes! Hope I get to visit some day!
