Tigerclaw Sinners - Complete MAP

Summary: Tigerclaw was once a young promising cat with many friends, but in order to impress his violent mentor Thistleclaw, he trains hard to be a fighter and puts all his emotions down. As an adult, Tigerclaw feels stunted and unable to communicate with his old friends, especially after his mentor dies. The young cat Redtail is very impressed by Tigerclaw, and wants to befriend him, but Tigerclaw is deeply jealous of the ease with which Redtail makes friends and feels like Redtail has stolen all his friends and credit. Tigerclaw will solve this the only way he knows how: with violence.

I headcanon that Thistleclaw would often emotionally abuse and humiliate Tigerpaw during training too: taunting Pinestar, taunting him for being Pinestar's son, blaming him for Pinestar becoming a kittypet, using Leopardfoot's early death to manipulate him, all to fuel an extremely unhealthy amount of rage in Tigerpaw to make him fight harder. But he was not fighting harder out of loyalty for his loved ones, his friends, or his clan, he was fighting harder out of spite and hatred. Thistleclaw preyed on every single one of Tigerpaw's insecurities and instead of Tigerclaw ever overcoming them, he instead turned them into things to hate unconditionally and destroy in any cat he sees that has them. I'm not excusing Tigerclaw, this is just how I imagine his psyche developed.

I love how in this map you can really see Thistleclaw's influence slowly corrupting Tigerclaw until he becomes cruel and hateful, rejecting the cats he once called friends in Lionheart, Whitestorm and later Redtail. It shows perfectly how evil doesn't corrupt a person all at once, it does so slowly, over a long time, and with devastating results. Tigerclaw could've been on of the clans' greatest warriors...instead he became a monster of his own making. He was already spiralling downwards, Thistleclaw merely helped him fall fully into his new role.

I feel like if Pinestar didn’t leave and if he didn’t have Thsitleclaw as a mentor, he could’ve been a good cat. AU maybe..?

Finally a map that shows his friendship with Redtail! Nobody has ever done that in a map and everyone did a great job, from the animators, to the designs and thumbnail!
Another reason I love this map is because it also shows before he was evil. Most maps trust makes tiger star evil and that’s it?

I like how Tigerpaw is portrayed as a victim of Thistleclaw rather than a shadow/henchman, I think it adds so much more depth to his character, his desperation for approval and success taken way too far, and how his abuse from Thistleclaw corrupted him rather than him overcoming it is such an unfortunately realistic take and I love it!

It's honestly really tragic how of Tigerclaw's original group of friends portrayed by this map, only one wouldn't be directly killed due to his actions. Redtail was murdered by him personally, Lionheart essentially had a hit placed on him, with Tigerclaw contacting Brokenstar at a gathering and organizing a "surprise raid" that just so happened to have Lionheart as one of exactly TWO casualties. Only Whitestorm survived Tigerclaw's rampage against his friends, and even though he outlived Tigerstar, he was still killed by Bloodclan, who Tigerstar brought to the forest. I still think it's telling that by the late point in his life, Tigerstar's friends who actually cared about him, Lionheart, Redtail, Whitestorm, etc, were all either dead or hated him, while the only cats that surrounded him were conflicted killers like Blackfoot or sycophants like Darkstripe and Leopardstar.

The credits is so cute, I don’t know why. I think it’s just small Redpaw/Redtail walking next to a massive Tigerclaw makes me happy. Anyway, the part where Tigerclaw carries Thistleclaw, his face is so emotionless. It’s like he doesn’t know if he should be happy or not.

Edit: OH AND at 0:38 Lion and White’s lipsync is on time with the song. Nice detail.

I feel bad for Tigerstar.
Many people overlool these facts.

His hate for kittypets= His father left to become a Kittypet

His cruelty= He was trained by Thistleclaw who was trained in the dark forest.

He wanted to have honour from its clan. Tigerstar hated Bluestar for being an enemy from his mentor and also beceause she thought he was to cruel. Thats why he hated her.
He wasn´t evil, he was broken

It’s really nice to see Tigerclaw maps that don’t focus on his death and more on his past, such as his relationship with his mentor, Thistleclaw. I really love this and the song really fits!

I love seeing how much Tigerstar struggled as a kit and him being friends with White storm and Lionheart. He must have felt such rage to see little Redtail grow and surpass him knowing he was "better" Then see Firestar rising quickly in the same way.

It wasn't about skill and hardwork. It was about favoritism. I wonder if Brambleclaw had to constantly watch other cats chosen as deputy because Firestar obviously didn't fully trust him if his path would have been different
