Food company challenge | Single-Use Plastic

Plastic pollution is a big challenge for food companies and communities worldwide—more than 91% of plastic isn't recycled. To help stem the tide of plastic polluting our planet, we’re launching the Single-Use Plastics Challenge for food and beverage companies.

The Single-Use Plastics Challenge is hosted in collaboration with premier food service management company Canteen and other food service partners.

Two things that could reduce plastic waste: #1 This is already being used in some states - The consumer pays a deposit to the retailer when buying an item that comes in a plastic bottle, container and receives a refund when the empty container is returned to a supermarket or other redemption center. #2 Companies need to stop selling items that are diluted with water. for example when you buy detergent it's 60 to 90% water, same for some other products we buy. Less water added to dilute a liquid product will mean less plastic waste.

1. Introduce law for plastic packaging to be priced at £/$/€ 1 per GRAMM

Expected results:

- Consumers will keep plastics to reuse. We never thow away valuables
- Companies and corporations will introduce food/drinks dispensers to maximise profits as always
- The wealthy few to afford £/$/€10 per GRAMM, will pay for cleaning up

Example:
2 litres of coca-cola = £/$/€ 3
1 platic bottle (bottle+cap+labels) weighing 38 gramms = £/$/€ 38

3+38= £/$/€ 41

I can afford to buy a bottle of coca-cola for £/$/€ 41. And i will keep that bottle safe for years.. You can bank on it...
