How Emirates' Fleet Will Change In Five Years

The Emirates fleet is a bit of a peculiarity in the commercial aviation industry. Not only is it the only airline (of its size) operating an all-widebody fleet, but, close to half of its 263 commercial passenger aircraft are Airbus A380s.

The Middle Eastern carrier has had this two-type fleet for several years now, ever since it retired its Airbus A330s and A340s in 2016. However, this relatively simple composition will soon change as the carrier takes delivery of additional types - namely, the Airbus A350 and the Boeing 787. So, with all of this in mind, what will the carrier's collection of aircraft look like in a few years? Let’s take a look for today’s video!

As a plane spotter, I like a lot of diversity at airports. To my eyes, the more types of airliners and the more airlines the better. I mean, an endless stream of A320 and B737 family jets gets boring quickly. More types just makes spotting more fun in my opinion.

Emirates has developed a niche market and a system that is working really well. I hope as their fleet diversifies they'll continue to have success.

After taking several flights on A380s, the type, especially with Emirates, has become one of my favorite planes to fly on. I am very glad that 5hey plan to fly the type into the 2040s!

Flying with them in February with a transfer in Dubai.
Looking forward to 4 flights with them all on the 380.
First time for me.

I have a feeling we will see some changes in order numbers, as Emirates further loses patience with Boeing...

That A380 put emirates in the aviation industry and made them the brand they are today. For sure that was the best pick they have ever made

The upcoming Dubai Airshow 2023, should be the defining moment on the Emirates future fleet. Emirates Tim Clark & Team, are experts in making the right choice for their future success👍✌️

I'm a huge fan of the Emirates current fleet (especially the a380s) but I'm also now really excited to see the future fleet especially the a350s coming into service. Really pleased and happy for Emirates 😊

Nice to see new aircraft in emirates even though they are too small.
Can’t wait to see a larger plane!

@simple flying not liking the background tune. I thought it might be a one time thing for news but makes it a little to disturbing watching videos on head/ear-phones

The 777X, 787, A350 and A380 are my favourite aircraft so that’s great. Apparently they are looking to order more at the Dubai air show this year as well.

Hopefully they won't equip their incoming aircraft with the same business class cabins they have in their current 777 fleet.

fun fact: Emirates had every B777 variant

Personally I think that what there planning is good, but I would personally prefer replacing the 787 with the new 777X.

Personally I am very happy about the planned fleet changes, it will bring a lot of diversity and options for both the pilots working for Emirates and ultimately the customers 😅
