You lost me entirely when you said Greece! It's the worst country in Europe to live! The situation here is concerning and the quality of life keeps getting worse every month, every year! We can barely afford for the basics! You can't move out alone and you end up being stuck with your parents, at your thirties, because it's impossible to live on your own! The prices, compared to our salary, are the highest in the entire European Union! The highest salary you can get as an average citizen of Greece is less than 1.000€. Those working in factories get more than a college graduate. I've studied for four years biomedical science, I'm a scientist and in my last job my salary was barely 650€. We can't make our own family, we can't live decently!
The media accuses the younger generations and calls us lazy because we don't want to work in an environment of abuse and extreme exploitation! We've already work overtime 5 days per week and we are not get paid for the extra hours! Once more we're the first country in Europe with the most working hours. In 2024 survey for average work time in Europe, Greece tops the list with the longest average work week of 41.7 hours (trust me when I'm saying in reality is even higher). And that wasn't enough, from the 1st of July and on, our government voted and proposed a legislation that made six-day work official; and compulsory in some cases, with the same earnings!
Let's go back to high prices! The rents in the cities cost more than 450€, the providers of telecommunication, transportation (AWFUL) and mostly energy are milking us every month like a dying unproductive cow! The bill for electricity is characterized by overtaxation (more than 150€ per month at best!!), not to mention we've got the slowest but most expensive internet of Europe! We are also the first country with the highest rate of depression (6.223% in 2019 and that percentage is still raising!). The criminality has spiralled excessively over the last decade! We've got a severe problem with toxic masculinity leading to murder of women! The mass media propaganda is out of control to the point they make fun of us and deceive us overtly! They are funded by our government as their mouthpiece!
As for our "government", it is completely corrupt!!! They try to privatise literally everything! Privatisation might be good for fully-developed and civilized countries like yours but in Greece, the birth of democracy (omg lol), that interprets as deterioration of public education, health and other services! We're uncivilised and at least a hundred years back compared to the rest of the Europe! The most negative feature of a Greek is their arrogance! The majority of individuals believe they know everything and they have a tendency to criticise EVERYTHING! They have an opinion about literally EVERYTHING, even if they're completely clueless!
Unfortunately, we can't change the situation because the main problem is us! There are partisan "democrats" who vote for the political party called New Democracy (NΔ) (not that there's a decent, honourable, honest and plain-dealing party that can seriously save us from salvation). These people have a specific profile. They are paid well or at least this is what they believe and have a working stability (these individuals work mostly in public sector, that is they're public servants)! They don't care about the welfare of the commonweal but their own good!
I could write forever about all those reasons you should stay away from this abomination called Greece! I'm so proud of our ancient history and what my ancestors did many centuries ago; however I'm ashamed of modern Greece! We have nothing to do with our progenitors and I'm sure they'd feel the same for what we've done to the land where they fought so hard to provide a civilization, which now is nowhere to be found!
I'm going to leave this place but y'all stay away from here for your own good!
