Hotel Fire Blackpool 🔥🔥🔥

The Strand Lodge on Wilton Parade, next to the famous Imperial went up in flames around teatime on Monday 27th of January 2025.
Firefighters brought some equipment in from Preston to deal with the flames. The situation appeared to be under control by around 19:30hrs.

Surprised Blackpool didn't appear to have a high reach extendable fire unit with all the local hotels, that one had to come from Preston is bonkers - great coverage on the video

It was probably one of two things: 1) An 'Insurance Job' or 2) A Cannabis Grow that caught alight.

I am glad no one was hurt and the hotel was empty, strange how there are so many fires on empty buildings? We stay at the Imperial at least four times a year. Keep up the good reporting Stephen, hope to meet you on the 14th - 16th of February.

I completely agree with you and the developer you spoke there are a lot of empty hotels and guest houses which could be converted to affordable apartments for first time buyers which would give them a step on the ladder to home ownership and/or rental apartments for local people who are stuck on waiting lists. Not just in Blackpool but all over the country. I emailed my local MP and said as much but she didn't even bother to respond. The powers that be would rather keep throwing up new homes on our green belt land

That bit of drama sent me down memory lane... No.3 and No.4 Wilton Parade used to be called, "Alvo" and "Arcadia", used to stay several times a year at either one or the other of them as a kid in the 80's.

At first i thought you said the Strand Hotel at Promenade as was going say ive stayed there...But as re-read different hotel just hope there wasn't anyone hurt, or full hotel especially during the summer! Thanks for the update Stephen.

Hi. Not this subject but a big thank you for the Wests, Gloucester show. We have lived in Gloucester now for two years and had no idea it was the place of such horror. We went round to see the location next day and watched a good documentary on it all. Many thanks indeed. My mother and father retired to Bispham many years ago and have watched your Blackpool videos too. All the best, keep up the hard work.

Must be hard to get insurance for a hotel in Blackpool.

We have a lot of real fires in Wales. People used to come home to them!
