Sometimes I think I’m weird and misunderstood and then I see stuff like this and realize I’m actually, thankfully, by the Grace of God, normal.

Only time a baby doll is ok is for mentally impaired adults or kids. This is beyond creepy.

I worked at a Pregnancy Center and when we had freebie days to give away used baby clothes and equipment, a lady with a large collection of dolls would consistently show up to take lots of clothes. We had to limit her time in our boutique bc it’s just not fair to the actual moms. She had a baby die 25 years ago and never got over it. Sad, but not a healthy thing to keep going.

My mom has a reborn doll that looks and feels real, absolutely creepy. What they’re good for? Elderly with dementia, taking care of a baby doll has actually been proven amazing for therapy. As well I know of a woman whose baby passed away shortly after birth, before she could say bye they had made a mistake and cremated him. They were going to do a proper full burial. Someone had actually made a reborn doll that looked exactly like her son, size and weight exact. She spent a little time with the doll and finally felt better about having a funeral. She laid the doll to rest in a casket with her son’s ashes. For many women who have lost their babies to SIDS or stillbirth or complications shortly after birth, these dolls can help them heal… but for some, like this convention, it’s taking it too far! This is just creepy!

I keep hearing those are for women who lost babies/children but I don’t know. Surely there are better therapeutic options out there for overcoming that heartbreak.

As a mom who’s had miscarriages, a fake baby just would not have been for me. It’s not real in any way and not your actual child. We have a dogwood tree planted outside in memory of those babies.

It’s definitely weird and creepy, but “evil” and “wrong” both imply you’re hurting someone else with your actions.

I knew a couple that were infertile and they carried around a Winnie the Pooh stuffy (pretty big). I think it was part of a coping mechanism to deal with the years of trying to conceive. They eventually fostered and adopted 2 children. They were the best parents ever!

Before my baby passed away (2/8/24) I would've thought the same thing..."weird & creepy" but I've learned the grief of losing a baby is very deep & consuming.

Most will minimize the death of a baby w/ statements "you're young, you can try again" or some other toxic positive statement which leaves the grieving mother feeling utterly misunderstood & alone.

So I can see why a mother may have a fake baby.

Some people push dogs in strollers because the dogs are immobile or disabled. A lot of rescue dogs out there.

What’s wrong with dogs in strollers😆. I know people who use dog strollers to get their senior dogs out of the house. Sometimes dogs have heart or joint issues and they can’t walk very long. But the fake baby thing is so wrong and weird.

If people do this instead of having kids, that could be a sinful way to suppress God-given instincts. However, some may do it to cope with infertility. I don't think others have the authority to decide how they should cope. Disabled women may use these dolls instead of having children. Many disabled people are judged for actually having children. These dolls are one of those amoral things in life that really don't matter. Since I don't know another persons intentions, I'm not bothered by them having a baby doll.

I think it is fine if it is done privately. You can play with your dollies as an adult as long as you don't bring them out in public. If you want to spend thousands of dollars on reborn dolls, that's your business. Just don't put them in strollers or carry them through shopping malls. They will be fine left at home all day every day. They don't have feelings. They don't need anything. They are just your coping mechanism. If that's what you fancy, then I am fine with that as long as I don't have to see it.
