Pls any mathematical prove of why negative divided by negative is positive

How do I make a formula to give me a percentage change that will always be correct. For example: a company's EBIT grows from -2 to +5. Or from +5 to -2. Just doing a simple division and subtracting one will give me the wrong answer in the first case. How do I make a generic formula I can copy across a row and not be affected by this. Thank you!

So i can imagine the multiplication of a negative number (aka if the hole was three times larger how large would it be) in the same ballpark i can imagine a negative number being divided by a positive number (aka if the hole was half as big how big would it be.) but is there a multiply Appels example of dividing a positive number with a negativ number?
I can of course accept the logic of the minus being carried but i have a hard time imagine what that would look like.
