I'm testing and reviewing the new Midori MD Thick Notebook and compare it with the regular MD notebook. I'm comparing differences in construction, paper quality, and pricing. This is so helpful - thank you! This is definitely going on my list for when I get a new sketchbook. I absolutely love the landscapes with the little black cats in them and have looked at them quite a bit for inspiration. I would never have guessed you’d done them on anything other than watercolor paper!

I love the regular Midori MD notebooks and have been doing small amounts of drawing and painting in them for years, but this might be a complete game changer for me! I’m definitely going to give it a go! Thanks for sharing about how it takes watercolor and tombow markers!

Hi!😊 I found this to be a really interesting video! I really like how you decorated the cover with watercolor swatches, I’m inspired to try something similar, that’s really pretty!🥰 I admire and like your art style very much! It’s very pretty. To me, when you were showing how the paper seems to take watercolor differently, it looked like the watercolor sits on the thick paper more than it soaks in to the paper (I hope that makes sense😅). Very interesting the points you brought up. I literally just discovered the thick notebook as well - I didn’t know about it before and if you have a regular MD notebook, the flyleaf first thicker page is actually the thick paper, so you can try it out 😅 I don’t need another sketchbook right now but this is on my list to try!

It's really strange that 141gsm paper ghosts that much, especially since MD Notebooks have the most yellow paper I've seen (bleaching paper to white increases ghosting). I've had 120gsm notebook warm white (but not even close to cream like Midori) that didn't ghost at all, although most 120gsm do have some ghosting. At 150gsm+ I haven't seen any ghosting in any notebook, even one that had so much bleaching and optical brighteners that it had blueish hue when looked towards the light.

Ooh, a quick question: If I was to use washi tape around the edges to create a frame around a painting, and then peel away, do you think it would peel cleanly from the page?

I want to use it for pencil drawing. Is it durable in heavy erasing? with electric eraser?
