Citizens Bond Advisory Committee meeting 10 May 2023

Travis County’s Citizens Bond Advisory Committee (CBAC) will hold its first meeting on January 25, 2023. Created and appointed by the Travis County Commissioners Court, the fifteen member CBAC is charged with advising the Commissioners Court on the need for a bond election and the prospects for conducting a successful election in November 2023. If the CBAC determines a bond program is warranted, they will advise the Court on the overall scope of a bond package, recommend a prioritized list of projects, and report on the fiscal impacts to the County and local area. The final report will also include recommendations on projects to be considered for funding through the annual budget process or funded through future bond elections.

“The Citizens Bond Advisory Committee continues to be a useful resource to the Commissioners Court and our staff. Their recommendations have always included input from our community and serve as a voice for those who will be directly impacted by a potential bond proposal,” said Cynthia McDonald, Travis County Executive for Transportation and Natural Resources. “I appreciate every committee member who is volunteering their time to help better our county by providing open and honest opinions on how we can best serve our constituents.”

The CBAC will be chaired by John Langmore. He was appointed by Travis County Judge Andy Brown and previously served on the 2017 CBAC. Mr. Langmore is an attorney with experience in transportation and land use. He has served on numerous boards and committees, including the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA) as a Travis County appointee, Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Citizen’s Advisory Task Force for Imagine Austin, and is a founding member of the Travis County Parks Foundation.
“I do not take this responsibility bestowed upon me by the Travis County Commissioners Court lightly. I understand this will be a difficult task, but one that needs to be done,” said John Langmore, Chair for Travis County’s Citizens Bond Advisory Committee. “I encourage the public to participate during one or all of our meetings. It is imperative we receive feedback from our communities.”

The Citizens Bond Advisory Committee is asked to provide an initial status report to the Commissioners Court within three months after their first meeting, with a final report due no later than July 11, 2023.
