Thank you so much. I’ve been suicidal, I️ was in patient hospitalized for depression, suicidal attempts and thoughts, and self mutilation. One day, the nurse bought in this little radio. It was on an Alt rock channel. This song came on. I️ had heard it once before, when my friend was suicidal and this song bought me to tears then. It still does now. I remember being in middle school listening to all of these songs and albums, honest I was really depressed and hated being called "emo" or whatever but tbh this music still hits I am coming across old playlist and its crazy nostalgic. Like its insane to me how much this music and these songs bring back and how much emotion they evoke for me. I remember putting everything i had into these songs. They were all I had for so long. These bands feel like home to me. Its kind of bittersweet i guess

I've had to deal with so much in my life and have had those dark thoughts. I've fought my own brain with feeling unworthy. Thought I had left that behind but recent events in my life have brought back some episodes of depression and anxiety. But back then and even today, the thing that always stopped me was the love of those around me.

Tell the people in your life that you love them. That they are beautiful. And that being imperfect does not make them unworthy.

And to those of you with these thoughts... being afraid doesn't make you a coward. One of the hardest things in this world may be to tell someone that you need help. But choosing to keep up that fight, to reach out- that makes you BRAVE. Don't give up. Sometimes all we need is a guiding hand to help us overcome ourselves.

You are loved.

You are worthy.

People can say what they will about the dark music only makes depression worse, but for some of us, it saves lives. I’m one of these people. Sometimes you need to know you’re not in the darkness alone. If you can’t see anyone else, sometimes hearing them is enough to make you reach out. For anyone in this place remember, even if you can’t see, or hear, anyone else who’s going through the same thing, close your eyes, and reach out and feel even if they’re not close enough to touch, you’ll be able to feel them. There’s always someone else in the darkness with you just waiting for you to reach out so you can climb back out together.
