Most native speakers use "lay" where "lie" is expected. So, I feel I need to get used to using one instead of the other although I know it's wrong. Because a lot of people say it this way, it might become correct one day.

What’s the past tense for lay and what’s the past tense for lie

Correct me if I'm wrong, but then "lye" is transitive (has an object), whereas "lie" is intransitive (doesn't have one).
