This is part of history, some good, some bad, but history none the less let’s not lose it.

Just discovered this band this weekend. One performance of "Jackson" and I am utterly hooked. This song feels ancient and she honestly sounds as if she's been playing that fiddle for a hundred lifetimes. CCD is not mechanical, but organic and REAL and these people are true ARTISTS, not just performers. My God, the world needs all of this it can get.

I agree with what you say. I have Scottish, Irish, Indian and African heritage and I love this music. I think my ancestors geared me towards this type of music and other variances of too.

Did you know that when the Scots and Irish started to come to the USA they brought their traditional music (older than the hills of Scotland and Ireland), and they took it with them to the south and the moutains of the Appalacia. This was a huge influence on music in the USA. You can hear it in pieces like this.

The drone of the violin instantly brought to mind Scandinavian folk music for me. Breathtakingly beautiful.

Had the privilege of meeting them years ago when they stayed at my friend’s house in DC on their way to NY to get their Grammy. They are so talented but such down to earth wonderful people. Will always remember Dom on the bones while we were playing on. He probably thought we sucked (because we did).

It is our Southern roots showing. Black, white, red, or brown...we have much more in common than our differences would show.

It is disturbing how many people seem to not want to acknowledge the contributions that Black Americans have made to the majority of American styles of music. Like all things American, we have taken bits and pieces from the countries that our families originated from and made it our own. I highly recommend CCDs Sankofa TED talk to anyone who thinks this type of music is un-black (whatever that means). You might learn something new.

I've recently become acquainted with Carolina Chocolate Drops and it's been an incredible experience. I'm from Puerto Rico and have listened to jazz, classical, latin and all kinds of music and I find this music incredible.

This song haunts my soul in all the best ways. I bought a pair of bones 30 years ago and this bones player has encouraged me to learn to play them in public. <3

That's the most soulful fiddle playing I've ever heard.

Keep that music alive! Don't change. It must be preserved for future generations.

This song kind of hints at the powerful universality of beautiful music. The talent and the musical range of this group are extraordinary.

The sheer beauty in this performance lies within the fusion of styles between early African-American music and European string. CCD captures this element perfectly and Rhiannon shines and exemplifies her true understanding of roots given her heritage. Well done CCD & RG. Thank you for the talent you exude in a society seemingly defunct of it.
