Schlieren and Shadowgraph study of bullet flight using high speed video

High-speed Schlieren video is used to measure subtle changes in gas mediums caused by changes in pressure, density and temperature. This video shows two bullets recorded at different frame rates, and is used to study air displacement. Shot with a monochrome i-SPEED 716 camera.

at the first clip apart from the shock/smoke waves it seems we can also see the sound waves forming too? seriously its like playing with a frequency on wavelab or something! ><><><><>< edit: lol it looks like an extend-o-glove coming out of the weapon and springs inside again! :D
