I was there, 5th row right in front of Jeff. In my 59 years, the best live ever!! I particularly enjoyed Jeff’s remark prior to launching into ‘Turn to Stone, ’ as he discovered on his playlist, “Oh, I know this one!”
He wrote ALL of them after all. He’ll always be me favorite Brummie!!

This was the song on Discovery when Jeff Lynne lost the plot for me. As he stated himself, he "realised he didn't need to bother adding orchestral parts to his songs" and so they became much more ordinary and, for me and many other listeners, much less interesting. This song needs the absurdly over-compressed drum sound to work: why couldn't the drummer use an electronic kit triggering samples for this? Would have made all the difference.
