Welcome to Sugarland Animal Hospital, caring for the vets of Bundaberg.

Cane Toad toxicity is a very overlooked issue when we talk about things that can easily harm dogs, and even cause death. Cane Toads carry poison in their poison glands which they will excrete when threatened as a defence mechanism. This venom is EXTREMELY toxic to dogs. If your dog is exposed to this toxin, there are a few steps you need to take to ensure your animal's safety. Watch the video to learn more.

We are here for the pet owners of Bundaberg who are seeking a high level of care for their pet.

We provide a modern award winning veterinary hospital and a team dedicated to the care of your pet.

Unlike traditional vet clinics and surgeries, we are here to take the stress out of pet ownership.

We believe if a patient has left our hospital without caring for all their needs, we have let that pet down.

Our core values we live by are:

Loyalty - We are faithful to the team, to our clients and their pets. We stick up for each other.
Responsibility - We keep our word and do what we say we are going to do. We help the team and our clients.
Openness - We communicate openly, we can take feedback and we trust each other.
Compassion - We listen to others, care for one another, show appreciation and empathy.
Fun - Life and work need to be enjoyable. We love laughter and the ability to joke while still getting the job done.

We know that when you are looking for vets in the Bundaberg area that you want all the professionalism and expertise that you would expect from a vet but at the same time providing quality customer service and care for your loved pets.

For those of us who live in remote areas hours from the nearest vet, vigilance and prevention with physical barriers around the garden is the key to success . Failing that the advice given in this video is absolutely crucial

We lost our dog tonight from frog poisoning. 😭 It’s midnight and there’s no vet clinic around that’s open.

Hi, everyone! It’s been more than a year. I still feel the pain at times. And recently, my 3 dogs got distemper and died after a few days. I don’t think I’ll recover from this soon.

3:52 Is where they actually teach you what to do fast forward to hear if you’re in a rush I think it’s poor video making that they took so long to tell you what to do

My dog ate a toad at 11pm. Called emergency vet and they told me to keep an eye on him. Been 30 mins and he’s pawing at his mouth but no foam or any other symptoms. Keeping an eye for the next few hours to decide whether to take him. Only available help at this time is over an hour away but don’t want to make a decision too late

One of those killed my Lexie. She bit it while my family and I were sleeping one night. We woke up and found her dead....there was nothing we could do for her.

Informative video but they don't live just 5 years. "They have a life expectancy of 10 to 15 years in the wild and can live considerably longer in captivity, with one specimen reportedly surviving for 35 years."

How would I say extract venom and dehydrate it? I’m asking for scientific purposes.

Are the smaller toads in the U.S. toxic, too? My cat finds toads and plays with them. I need to not permit that any more

Try feeding two egg yolks after wiping the mouth with a damp cloth. Maybe it can help
