DJI ? VTOL │ 2380mm Fixed Wing Platform » Multi Rotor Drone

On February 21, 2018 - News of a fixed wing DJI drone prototype was revealed on several websites. I cannot confirm this to be a DJI product but this is what I'm able to gather. From the initial look it seems to be a quad rotor for VTOL with a 5th pusher motor behind the aircraft for forward movement used as a multi purpose platform. I'd say for use in agriculture, surveying, mapping, land management, security and the likes. Based on the price point of the DJI AGRAS MG-1S drone of between $15,000 to $20,000 US (Links below) a $50,000+ price tag for this fixed wing drone seems extremely excessive.

I had heard roomers about this project earlier today in the parrot Disco thread on RC Groups. Thanks for posting the video. Man, $50, 000 price tag. They sure are proud of it. For that kind of money it better plant, monitor, water, fertilize, and harvest the crops

Looks very interesting, but wow the price rules a lot of people out for this bird..

Awesome video and update on this Partner. From what I understand this will be the first UAV capable of communicating with UFOs, using an advanced REF Ultra communications system and infrared camera. We’ll see!!

If roumors are not confirmed, better not to spread them around. That plane had the body of SkyEye by EdoModel. Know it because I have it. Don't know but don't think that EdoModel teamed with DJI. More probably it is a try from EdoModel to create a VTOL rather than DJI to make a plane.

That aircraft looks far to cumbersome, and just plain awkward for a $50, 000 pricetag(must be $5000?). What would be its primary purpose?

Hmmmm interesting. A non commercial use for this could not justify the cost for an individual. I think the actual cost would be more like 5000 vice 50, 000. Even at 5 grand you could build a platform that could do what this is most likely capable of at a fraction of the cost. With an eagle tree flight control board mounted in a volantex 2000 rear prop could most likely match the capabilities of this new dji fixed wing.
