Thanks very much for the video. I've now managed to load my Hard Disk File from Winuae thanks to your demo of your configuration. I tried previously but didn't really know what I was doing. This is Perfect.

Thanks for the great in depth review! I have one of these (bought it at AmiWest!) but I have not used it a ton. I initially had issues with mine, and at one point managed to kill my SD card.. Mathew helped me get that fixed, and the updates have been very nice. I need to spend more time with it now!

Doug, my man, you're doin' the lord's work here. Also... I wasn't aware that the Aros version of Final Writer had finally been released. This makes me want to find an old piece of x86 hardware and spin up an Aros box to demo it, but I'll most likely just slap it on a VM.

Enjoyed the video Doug -- very informative! I think it's a cool little device.

This is unwatchable. That high pitch noice that comes through every now and then is killing my ears

Nice Review Doug! I am still on the fence with the A600GS. I have way to many Amiga's to play with and my time has been working on some other retro projects I really need to finish up on, so an A600GS would just sit and collect dust but who knows maybe one day.

Amazing overview Douglas. The incompatibility of the new apps with Workbench, and inoperable Greaseweazle or Drawbridge would be a show stopper for me. I have both of these, the Drawbridge I installed into an external USB floppy drive, and would definitely want to plug this into the A600GS. That said, if using the new Final Writer can rich text files be saved to use externally?

Hi Doug! Thanks for the nice review of the A600GS! I agree with you, it has come a long way since autumn 2024. Works much better now. 👍Are you thinking of getting the A1200NG? Have a good evening! 😀

As always, thanks for the video Doug but not sure I can agree with the conclusions.

It's $150 (USD) which is pretty pricey yet your comment is the custom interface is not great and your suggestion is to do away with Amibench and use Commodore/Hyperion ROMs with a custom install.

That being the case, it would be a lot cheaper to use a Raspberry pr 4 which would also be a lot quicker than this. The savings in money would more than cover paying for the kickstart ROMa, a joystick adapter, and a USB mice and controller. It would also likely run games that I suspect will really struggle on Amiberry with the A600GS like Jim Power (in the same way the Raspberry Pi 3 does, since my understanding is the Orange Pi Zero 3 used here is about the same speed). The comments around using WinUAE and Amiberry to help with the setup are interesting - If people have that already what would be the point of buying this just to run Amiberry on a different device?

Of course there is the A500 mini which already includes the licenced ROMs and 25 games for a significantly cheaper price too.

It's another fork which is AROS ELF install base.

34:26 Yeah that's a hard game to emulate. There are specific instructions to get it up to speed on THEA500 Mini. There is always a way but I think because of the amount of RGL machines in the wild the developers are far more likely to tweak configurations for the Mini rather than the A600GS. I guess the ARM libraries might give this machine the edge in some productivity software but for games I think the Mini still has the edge. Saying that, on the Mini the AMiNIMiga soft mod is just fine for a Workbench environment and AGS 2.7 is also awesome. Pandory500 rocks for emulators and Amiga 2-player mouse and 4-player adapter games. Is there AGS for the A600GS or the ability to emulate other systems?

Castlevania AGA has a CD32 version which is a new game designed with emulation in mind, you might try that.

I does look like a neat little machine. Does Amiga Game Selector work on the A600 GS?

14:20 it's such an odd statement, aros is amiga os open sourced, it's not linux it's not bsd, it's not an alien os, it's the reimplantation of AmigaOS done the AmigaOS. It's quite puzzling thing to say.

The arm software are agnostic libraries that the software has no knowledge of, likedata types graphic library, they shouldn't be a show stopper for running the software in 68k, because the software running is still 68k. On aw is said that octamed is an amiga binary, why it doesn't run then, I dunno... I doubt dopus is anything but an amiga binary either 20:15

35:16 you shouldn't try to emulate the latest cpu, stick to the 020 and no jit, jit can introduce issues on emulation, and besides, in real hardware the game doesn't need a faster CPU.

I have ImageFX on CD from AmigaKit, and the installer seems to be broken when I tried to install it to my A4000.

Is it possible to use other themes? I do not like the dark default theme.
