Remember on these engines that I believe the valve guides need to be replaced. From factory they wore prematurely and dropped alot of valves into pistons on these 427 cubic inch engines. I don't know of really any other issues though. I believe they also came factory with a dry sump oiling system which is nuts

We miss our C5 that had 1 C5R-427 putting out 680 HP on 98 octane.

If you never had a big V8 (larger than 6.0L), you just don't understand. Z06 is a 500hp, 3000lb car. Beautiful

That motor is a good motor but if you get a bad one with bad heads it's a destructive time bomb. GM did not cover don't do it replace the heads immediately
