Its called the "North Atlantic Treaty Organisation" so technically only countries in the north atlantic can join. algeria was once apart of it. So that means that they should be able to join again same with cyprus, israel palestine etc

on one hand, India has the option to get NATO tech and reassurance against China and Pakistan so we can worry less about military spending.

on the other hand, cheap Russian oil with high resell value doesn't sound too bad either

on a short term, remaining allies with Russia may sound better, but in the long term, allying with NATO would benefit India more. though i do wonder how it will work cause constitution of India discourages foreign military bases on Domestic territory
