The House approved an overhaul to the Electoral Count Act, the law at the heart of Trump's attempt to overthrow the 2020 election.

The House approved bipartisan legislation Wednesday to clarify how presidential Electoral College votes are tallied and challenged, aiming to prevent confusion and a repeat of the Capitol attack on Jan. 6, 2021.

The vote was 229-203, largely along party lines. Republicans largely opposed the bill as an attack on former President Donald Trump rather than a way to fix problems with the 1887 Electoral Count Act. The House bill from Reps. Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., and Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., must still be reconciled with the Senate version, which hasn’t been voted on yet.

"If your aim is to prevent future efforts to steal elections, I would respectfully suggest that conservatives should support this bill," Cheney said. "If instead your aim is to leave open the door for elections to be stolen in the future, you might decide not to support this or any other bill to address the Electoral Count Act."

Someone needs to smack that smirk off her face. How is this even a fair vote? 229 democrats to 212 Republicans? Of course it will be in their favor! How does this work???

The only way to challenge election results is to ask the voter in person who they voted for. The only way to challenge the vote of the person is to determine if he or she can vote legally. The candidates ability to run and hold office is susceptible to the same stringent criteria and more so than the voter. The vote is important. The candidate history is a thousand times more important than the voter. If a voter can not be a criminal the candidate should be a candidate for sainthood. That would apply from the mayor to the president. He can not be a liar. automatic disqualification. Adulteries disqualified. smoking disqualified. Drinking disqualified. arrested disqualified. drugs disqualified. This will not effect your citizenship status. You can still live and work here usual. You just can not hold office. This is the will of the American people. Whatever party you belong to the people of that party want this type of individual to represent them. Automatic disqualification.
