►HI EVERYONE!
I recently got into the good doctor and binged watched the first three seasons in a few weeks. I shipped Claire with Neil from the first season on, since the adorable elevator scene and the moment he called her special. During s2 I lost any expectation they would become a couple. So I was surprised when they finally got more scenes together in s3 and build this beautiful friendship and relationship. At first I was scared only Claire would fall for him and it would only be one sided, but I am so glad I was wong!

Their relationship was one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. The way they connected, balanced each other out, shared perspectives, were there for each other, had fun togeher and opened up to each other was so special. To say Neil's death was painful is an understatement. I am incredibly hurt, sad, frustrated and disappointed that they decided to kill him off for pure shock value after building this relationship over the season. They never even got a hug or a kiss. Especially after what Claire has been trough she deserved some happiness.

And the way they handled his death was just another cherry on top. The show is literally about all these complicated cases they state are "inoperable" and then they come up with a brilliant plan and save the person. In the same ep Shaun amputates a women's leg surrounded by rubble, they nearly drown but they both live in the end. The ep ago Claire comes up with the incredible idea to build sth so they can use a woman's own blood for transfusion during her surgery and everyone is in awe of her. And then you're telling me Neil lays in that hospital bed, they all say goodbye and just accept he has to die without even getting together once to brainstorm something to save him. Great coincidence that Shaun wasn't at the hospital at that time too. No thank you.

I won't continue the show, because I can't imagine it without him and I don't want to see them grieving or Claire moving on. It's just too hurtful for me. So to cope I decided to edit them.

I tried to make the video positive and give it a happy vibe instead of focusing on their heartbreaking ending. It displays how their relationship build up over the seasons, how it was mainly Claire who had a little crush on him in season 1, how he noticed her too and finally Claire's hard time that pushed them together, the little conflict at work that nearly seperated them and the final scenes where Neil gave her the freedom and support to find happiness with another man while both of them realized their feelings for each other. During the last seconds of the video I tried to capture their journey again and how it evolved.

I didn't expect to get so attached to these two characters and their relationship, but I really connected to them. They felt very real to me and I fell in love with them and their story just as much. These two will always have a special place in my heart and impacted me in ways I didn't see coming.

Knowing Claires weakness with men and Neil's failed relationships, it is beautiful to watch them take their time to nurture this relationship. I am very impressed by the fact that they are not sleeping together. This is a true sign of genuine love

These two were meant for each other, so beautiful together. He was a better surgeon when she was around. She was incredible because he inspired her....the ending of s3 was so illogical I couldn't believe it. It made no sense. So I stopped watching.
But I like this couple so much! I still search for edits :)

I am never going to get over these two, not in years, not at least in this life. They both loved each other, the way the other one had never been loved before, their story shouldn't have ended like this. Whenever I will come across anything related to either of these actors or this show, it'll always ache the same way.

They are the epitome of robbed potential. One of the most beautiful, purest and sincerest couples ever written. And to have it all taken away by killing him off for what? Shock value? They could have waited a season and gave Claire and him leave together for Guatemala. They had such insane chemistry and one of the most beautiful slow burn developments. I stopped watching the show after s3. My heart couldn't deal. Forever Team Melendaire ❤️

For everyone saying that you stopped watching after the s3 finale, I understand your hurting, but don't stop. I took a good sized pause after watching it for the first time after balling my eyes out that Melendez died. But there are so many more happy things that happen later in the series, some sad too, but mostly happy, except the first 2 episodes of s4 but don't quit watching

What do you think of the alternative ending I just thought of, maybe it will help someone get over this.

After realizing Melendez's problem, Claire (after having spent hours thinking) came with a possible solution, having no alternatives other than death they would try, but during the surgery there were complications and Melendez ended up in a coma... Being like that for almost a full season, until... In the season finale he will miraculously wake up but oh plot twist (just like in K-dramas)... He lost his memory. Then in the middle of season 5 he unexpectedly regains his memory. Melendez and Claire meet and he, with a bouquet of flowers, almost crying, tells her: "I'm sorry for making you wait so long" then an emotional kiss and happily ever after with the children that Melendez always wanted to have.


If anyone wants to continue it or add more, go ahead!

I'm not from the US, so I watched 3x20 in September 2020 and to me it was a series finale. It left me completely devastated and heartbroken, I've been trying to get over it for one and a half years, but just can't. Melendez was a pivotal character, who kept the whole team together and should've stayed on the show until the end. TGD is nothing without him.
I'll never forgive Shore for firing Nick for no reason, leaving us without Melendez and Melendaire. Their relationship was built up so naturally and beautifully, only to kill him off in the finale and the fact that his coworkers did literally nothing to save him for something easily curable makes it even worse.
I loved the series, but haven't watched an episode since 3x20. I really, really wish we could see Antonia and Nick in a new project, their chemistry is unique.

I'm so glad that you made this video (which is really well and beautifully made btw!). There's simply not enough fan content for the revelation that was Melendaire. I will never not be bitter for how they handled the whole relationship, I suppose that I should be thankful that they at least had their relationship growth in s3, but even that didn't feel full-hearted to me back then. I always sensed a weird vibe with it, like... they didn't have enough challenges and personality clashes shown. The Good Doctor handles relationship so well (the show has a great way of showing how challenges can make relationships stronger), and I was just confused because Claire & Melendaire have so much potential to do this exact thing - challenge each other, grow with each other, love each other. And the show just... progressed their relationship without going that deep. And in the finale, of course, everything made sense. Although I didn't even cry because I couldn't believe it and was so taken out of it. I think that there is SO MUCH POTENTIAL lost with it, and it's really sad because they're both magnificent characters in an awesome show.
I did continue watching it and in my opinion, it really is worth it (although it took a while to get into s4 again). Am sometimes still blown away by the writing, esp now in s5. But lol, am still bitter and sad about Melendaire.
