The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time reminds me of the simpler days before I had to worry about high school, stress, anxiety, drama, or losing people that are important to me. This game makes me miss the times when I would go out with my friends and climb trees, explore the old, abandon hotel near my house as if it were a dungeon we had to explore and beat monsters and solve dungeon puzzles, and simply be kids, but then I realize what this game truly means; this game is about growing up and learning that we shouldn’t cry because we lost something instead smile because we had these things in the first place.

I hope everyone who ever played Ocarina of Time as a kid gets to listen to this.

When my friend was battling cancer in 2018, he mentioned multiple times how he wanted to fade away like the deku tree, when his time came, I had to watch him take his last breath eventually and he indeed, did fade away like the deku tree. We both loved OoT, MM, and his favorite Zelda was Windwaker, which I hope to play someday. A lot of the things we enjoyed together like music and games haunted me to an extent after he passed away. I found your channel about a year ago and it made me realize how much pain I was shouldering. Thank you for making these albums, I cherish them dearly. <3

I remember when I was a kid, maybe 6 years old I didn't understand the game. It seemed so mature, so mysterious, besides I could not understand English (spanish speaker). Yet I remember every morning waking up and spending hours trying to figure out stuff. It took me years literally to get to the grown-up part of the game. It made me cry when I finally took the sword out for the first time. I felt a great accomplishment.

One of my best friends just passed yesterday, he loved these songs. I wish I could play the song of time for him.

"Oh, you're leaving... I knew... that you would leave the forest... someday..."

That line is particularly heavy in this video if you view Kokiri Forest as a metaphor for childhood.

Edit: I got this idea from a video essay "OCARINA OF TIME - A Masterclass In Subtext."
It's excellent, and it has one of my favorite title-cards. I strongly recommend it.

*The flow of time is always cruel... Its speed seems different for each person, but no one can change it*

*A thing that doesn't change with time is the memory of younger days*

Nostalgia as a plot device. Emotional KO.

Zelda was always my favorite form of escapism considering I am from a third world country and life in such place sometimes got very harsh and as a young kid I would often be sad about it, but whenever I got to play Zelda, all my problems went away. Even now as an adult. Zelda games will always be in my heart.

I like to think when we die - heaven would be the start of this game waking up in a forest with an incredible adventure waiting ahead
