What really terrified me was how the parents felt obliged to raise a kid who was so alien, he seemed to obey everything else but his own parents. Not to mention the couple lacked the mental and material resources used to raise the kid in their image. In the end, the child was nothing more than a means to continue the cycle. This really makes me think who’s really controlling the youth of the world, our parents, or the unseen entity we call society?

I personally strongly recommend no watching this movie for any friends who is under any depression these days. Vivarium was not a regular thriller to let you feel creepy, it was an art that was full of desperation.

I didn't like the movie but I think it served it's purpose. I felt generally horrified throughout and finished feeling unsatisfied and somewhat sickly, which is pretty much what Gemma and Tom felt lol.

I really want a sequel, where the parents are more patient and teach the “creature” to love. So at the end it feel obligated to save them... as it recognizes that “release” would mean never seeing them again

I still want a version of the movie where they try and kill the kid when he's younger. 1 nutshell theory I had while watching was that it's just like a regular normal family. The dad works all day breaking his back at a meaningless job that many men before him died doing after a lifetime of work. Men just digging their own graves. The mom tries to be loving and act as a mother but that little weird ass kid would freak Anyone out lol. Also while they try and parent or live life in their new home the kid or kids just sit in front of the television being
"Programmed" by their television PROGRAM. Most parents have no idea what their kids are even watching or what it even means and they definitely have no idea the messages and subliminal messages that are coming through the tele-vision at all times. Then most kids grow up and become ALIENATED from their parents. That is just some of the information my brain took in. There is more but I won't go on and on, , , , overall I liked the movie but then again I like weird movies to begin with.
