The Beginners Guide to Writing knitting patterns by Kate Atherley is a perfect book not only for a beginner designer but also for a beginner knitter to understand the layout of a pattern what informations are very helpful to follow instructions and understand knitting designers.

I haven't mentioned but magazine patterns might be written in different (shorter) format that this book explains. The reason for it to save on print.

Happy Reading, Barbara

This book is amazing. I bought it long ago. This book helps you understand patterns that aren’t exact instructions it helps for sure with patterns and books that actually don’t say the exact steps but infer a pattern. Then I can go to my other books like the Vogues big book.
I have several pattern books. I’ll put a photos of all of them on Instagram, later today. There are others I want to but it takes time to get all of the ones I want. I bought and love the big book of Vogue Knitting. I purchased it before I knew about you, and impo it helps with making a person a well rounded knitter but this pattern book helps tremendously when patterns don’t tell you everything but just summarize instructions. This pattern book helps you get through them.
I plan on buying a book about slipped stitches then later I’ll get into more color work. I have even buying books as I develop my skills. I would like buy a book on slipped stitches and a sweater book next. Perhaps an Elizabeth Zimmermans book would be very helpful too. Can you recommend one? Also I am torn between sweater books would you recommend Amy Hershog’s Top Down Sweaters? It looks like a good one, or would you recommend a different one?
I will also be buying a slipped stitch book. And a couple other specifically focused books, like a book on lace as well.
I purchased and like the little Cast-ON and Cast-Off books with the wire bindings for variety and to understand different peoples preferred techniques.
FYI - Amys name above for top down sweaters is very likely mis-spelled.
Thank you for your contributions to my knitting career and the careers of many others I’m sure. :)

I don't have knitting books but I do have crochet magazines from many years ago. Crochet Fantasy I subscribed to about 35 years ago and I can't let them go.

I have this book. Are you working at the same place? I have a question for you. Actually 2 questions for you. Can I DM you? I don’t think it’s in the book. Thank you Barbara.
