Assistant Extension Specialist Jen Olson might be able to identify that unknown blob in the landscape. It might be one of the single cell organisms called slime mold.

I found a tan colored something growing on the outside of a mulch bag I had stored in my garage. Had never seen anything like it before and was a little freaked out. I used a stick to flick it off the bag and exposed the underside of it. It was, pink, fleshy and had deep red viens. It was the most disgusting thing I'd have seen. Talk about a full body shiver! Decided to give it a GOOGLE and came across this video. I'm glad now that I know what it was. Sure hope the dont show up any where else.

Do they really form aggregates like that? That is pretty amazing

Slime molds are just so cool. I'm in love with them, can't wait to start studying in the field!

They are in my new raised garden bed with my recently sprouted seedlings of various vegetables. Are my veggies ruined?  It smelled awful. Do I have to throw everything out? Will the plants that grow to fruition be toxic?

I only watched this to try and find them and it helped! eventually I found one! So thanks for the tutorial.
Edit: the reason why I wanted one is because they're actually kinda cool, these things can solve complex puzzles and are pretty intelligent.

My garden has it'd first slime mold this week and it is disgusting but it will go away so I have left it and stopped watering that area, I poured some vinegar on some of it and it changed colour but not all of it.

I enjoyed your video, but I had one question. You were discussing plasmodial slime molds but when you talked about reproduction and aggregation of cells that applies to Cellular slime molds which are different phylum. Is that correct?

In old days, slime molds were valued for elixirs.Never kill them.

I scooped them up but thats not cutting out the problem entirely. Id like to know if anyone knows how to get rid of it with a natural home remedy or spray. Please let me know.

I found a couple in my yard around the bird feeder....I was poking at them and turned them over and it looked like they were slimy and bleeding underneath 😵

They smell AWFUL. Makes my want to gag with just one whiff. I even feel dizzy. I'm glad they don't harm my plants, but maybe they harmed me a little bit ):

I had one of these show up and it was "bleeding" and looked like bleeding fungi. I was very confused. Thanks for this video.
