Actors Who Turned Tiny TV Parts Into Breakout Roles

We all have our favorite characters in television shows, many of whom we watch the show for and can’t imagine a world where they’re not in it. However, that doesn’t mean they were intended to be there for the long haul and there are many, many, many times where characters were meant to be nothing more than bit part players and were either just meant to be one time cameos, background characters or were meant to be killed off super early. However, because of the people that played them, they ended up becoming major players and are now some of the most notorious characters of all time.

In this video we are going to look at 15 celebrities who turned minor castings into major ones. This will include dopey background characters who were only cast for six episodes becoming major characters in the show (and then Hollywood superstars), characters who were written for people the producers met randomly, celebs who were on the verge of quitting acting once and for all only to get a one episode appearance (which then turned into a nine season one), stars who were cast as shallow characters with little depth turning into the hero, improvisational maestros using their comedic skills to stay on a series for the long term, and even celebs who were down and out getting Emmy nominations for their lucky guest appearance.

What did you make of this video? Any we missed? Which is your favorite? Let us know in the comments below and make sure to subscribe to the channel today for all this and more.

Dennis Franz as "Det. Andy Sipowicz" in NYPD Blue (1993-2005). His character was supposed to be killed off in the Pilot Episode, but the producers were so impressed by his characterization that they kept him on and eventually the show revolved around his character.

Juliana Marguiles, who played nurse Carol Hathaway on ER, was only supposed to be in one episode where her character commits suicide but she did such a great job, her role expanded and she became one half of the "it" couple on the show. (George Clooney was her love interest). Also, Naya Rivera on Glee was only supposed to be a secondary character on a few episodes but was so good as Santana, she was given a lot more screen time.

Another good one is Andrew Robinson's Garak in Star Trek DS9, he was only supposed to be in a couple episodes, but was so good he stayed as a reoccurring character throughout the series.

This is what happens when you talk about a show you never watched. Two seconds of research and you'd know it's Cas Tee L ... not Casteel

i may be the only one that hates the fact Jessie wasn't killed off in Breaking Bad. often times i found him annoying and i do wonder what would've become of Walter had he not had Jessie by his side to "ying to his yang" him into the later on annoying character as well (until the last season).
