is it absolutely a must to have a bottom drain? I/m wanting to build a a regular pond to have goldfish and have a waterfall flowing into it. I'm digging into a side of a hill and will have to build a retaining wall in the front. I have about 2 doz roots in the soil which I cut out. I'm wanting to use concrete instead of a liner so I don't have to worry about the roots growing back in 3 to 5 years.

hi Eric, i follow you and like the way you explain things. i think you are the best here on youtube.
i like to do things by my self. i kinda enjoy doing things like installing paving stones on driveway, and now I want to build a pond in my backyard by myself. i have a gutter in my backyard in one of a corner, so can i use this gutter as a drain or i have to install a drain separately ??? i will be very thankful to you if answer my question.

What tips do u have on digging? I'm building a 8 by 12 by 3 feet deep pond. I started but I'm having a lot of trouble digging. I have a pick ax and a shovel. I have very hard sand and rocky ground. Any tips???? Ps your videos help me a lot.
