I use R2 S2 R2 U* R2 S2 R2. (The direction of the U* depends on the AUF.) It can be faster than the M U one, but it’s trickier to learn, and still slightly slower for me, mainly because I suck at S moves.

I don't comprehend why that would be an "illegal" algorithm. The only things that make sense as "illegal" are you using a machine to solve it, or speed disassembly and reassembly.

You can use the M2, U', M2, U'2, M2, U', M2...For faster solve in that problem

Then again, I never bothered to learn PLL or OLL, so…
