Insta360 GO 2 Review!

The Insta360 GO 2 is probably the smallest action cam on the market today, and certainly so from the perspective of any of the major action cam makers. I've been putting it through its paces over the last 3 months in plenty of real life action and non-action scenarios.

Within it I've tested the 1440p camera, the Hyperlapse mode, Pro mode, and more. Whether or not 32GB of storage is enough, and we'll of course chat about that $299 price tag. I have side by side comparisons to the GoPro Hero 9, as well as size comparisons to the Insta360 ONE R, DJI OSMO ACTION, and Hero 8...plus the good ol' GoPro Session.

I love how the non-sponsored videos are always balanced with pros & cons. The people that have things sent for free never point out the negatives. Good job, man!!

We have been stuck with GoPro giving marginal upgrades every year, I think it's good to have a new player in the market. Honestly insta360's stabilization is NOT BAD.

This is by far the best, most honest, complete, straight to the point and useful review of the insta360 go2. Excellent job!

The necklace mount is actually my favorite one. Because it's the only one that does not require your hands. Being hands free is amazing for a lot of situations. It's also a kind of "standby" mode. You're ready to record anytime without having to reach out to your pocket or backpack. The cap mount is nice too, but I usually don't wear a cap.

I’ve gone to all the big YouTubers in the game and you by far have the most honest review. Keep doing what your doing. 🤘🏽

Basic stabilization still looks okish to me. But Pro mode offers so much more creative options. Choose the FOV after recording is amazing.

"You're never gonna do that"

I disagree, I use the chest magnet all the time.

sorry but I would disagree with the pendant. As someone who host tv shows here in asia, is great to have the pendant hidden under my shirt and using a front pov to shoot the traveling sites with my both hands free to do something else, also I would be just walking around and not running. So yes, i agree it might not be suitable to fast sports or having a lot of hiking gear that would bump the camera out, but for daily activities, it is hands free great first POV mode. Even working out is amazing, weight lifting with a mirror in front of you. So many thing we can do with the pendant that I could write a book here. Very handy.

I agree with most of what you said except the mounts. I ended up buy 2 Go 1s to manage a day at the bike park., due to internal memory and battery. When I grab my cameras the pendant was one of the things that always came with the camera. It takes up no room and it doesn’t always have to be worn on your chest. You can stick it to a backpack or your shorts. Sometimes I’d even put it up on my shoulder. I felt it was secure enough for many things, including a few sessions of fast go-karts. However, at the bike park or anything where it might get bumped or scraped off, no strength of magnet could convince me it was safe. I always used the gopro style mount. As far as mounts being “huge”, there’s more to the story than that. I stopped wearing my gopro chesty because my body position and the weight of the camera were too much to keep the camera in place without having the straps suffocating you tight. With the Go, the camera is light enough that even a blown out chesty will keep it stable enough for flowstate to work it’s magic. And I don’t know about you, but my bikes, and my kids bikes, are all aluminum or carbon so I’d never think to slap it on like that. I don’t think it’s fair to expect a flat magnet to stick to a round tube anyways.

Appreciate your honest, detailed, long term reviews Ray. They are like a breath of fresh air in the murky world of dubious paid for content all over YT these days.

And there you have it, the difference between a sponsored video and a non-sponsored video. In my case, (and I hope this applies to anyone reading my comment) the difference has earned this YouTuber my subscription and future views. I really hope that the difference earns him enough views to compensate for the lost income he may recieve from a sponsor. IMO, this is a fantastic, well balanced review and something other YouTubers should aspire to, and based on this, I wish DC Rainmaker many more Subscribers and views in the future 👏🏻

I'm about to buy the insta360 Go 2 and saw more or less ALL the reviews about it out here. And this is for sure the best one! thanks!

Hi Ray, just wondering that after you have done the Insta 360 go 2 review. Will you add some stage? Are you doing an updated review on the Insta360 go 3S I’m thinking of buying one and I do like your unbiased review very much. I did look on your channel but only could find the 4 year old one on the go 2.

I find the pendent really useful.

If you want to record a person's perspective for normal walking, running and going about doing stuff kind of video it's very unobtrusive and doesn't make you look like a cameraman with straps and velcro wrapping all over your torso.

Its also good for hanging the Go to places like trees and other non magnetic things.

It's a useful accessory and it's build quality is very good. It doesn't bother you even if you wear it when you're out for a jog.
