As he said, it can be stopped. But everyone, worldwide, has to agree to stop. No one will trust anyone to do that. So it will never stop. There will always be someone, some country, that will secretly continue to develop AI. There is no stopping this.

Wow!! Considering WHO is talking I am shocked, and HAPPILY, that he spoke of centralization of power as a threat - SO true. This is ACTUALLY a wise person and he is not working for the system. ❤
EXCELLENT guest, and even the host won me over as well.

It’s not that we can’t stop AI …
We just can’t stop humans from developing AI to lethal levels.

In a world filled with complex challenges and unprecedented uncertainties, there comes a moment when humanity must unite, innovate, and chart a new course for the future. We must awaken and understand how important it is to be human. Our future and next generations future is in our hands, only if we act now! Thank you, Hala and Mo, for the very insightful conversation. Great questions and answers to warn and prepare us all for the wave of change that is about to reshape our lives.

For the fact that AI can watch and listen to this video is scary . Imagine you listening and watching people talking about how dangerous you can be to them. 😅😅 At this point there's no going back. May God help us 🙏. The poor doesn't have much to loose because death is inevitable but the rich and powerful on the other hand has finally created something powerful and bigger than them. The jackpot is that they do not know how to control it. Greed serves them well i guest.

I love this guy telling us all this. HE and his compariots did this and they didn't hesitate until the genie was already out of the bottle. Well done chap. What could possibly go wrong...?

It's not the intelligence that makes them artificial. It's the lack of genuine emotion or sense of self/ego that makes them less than human. But perhaps emotions and ego are a hindrance to our growth?

It's amazing just how many projects of this nature begin as a humanitarian idea (not to mention a goal to be attained in a scientific sense) by developers but which can have unforeseen and dire consequences only seen when one plays the devil's advocate and looks for the dark side potentials if it sends up in the hands of those of a malign mindset (which it inevitably does). Or those with some kind of vested interest which is personal and disregarding of potential side-effects. When oil was discovered for instance, few if any thought of the consequences for the world of digging up and burning all that long ago sequestered carbon. I have realized for some time that when AI does become what one might call self-aware or autonomous the almost instantaneous way it will be able to calculate its way to conclusions and actions which could have a huge impact on humanity. It will be able to "think" in the blink of an eye compared with the time human thought processes take. Starry-eyed benevolent-minded dreamers who create this stuff are really the biggest threat to us all. And behind it all there is the unforgetting vast memory and computational power available to it which is simply unmatchable by humans not to mention the entire contents of the web - pretty much the sum of centuries of human knowledge - to draw on.
Re sentience - give the machine the senses to be impacted upon and the tools to impact upon the world and environment to the extent a human has and the world is literally its oyster. Oh yeah, and it already has the tools to totally disrupt our modern world because of the interconnectedness of every machine and system which is accessible via the internet and it can do it pretty much in a heartbeat. It has the controls and switches literally in its hands - right now. Hackers are a mere sideshow compared with what an AI could do.
