David Bowie - Starman - live 1972 (rare footage / 2016 edit)

I put this together from footage taken mainly from the Dunstable and Aylesbury shows which Bowie played in the summer of 1972. The silent footage has been synched with a BBC radio session recording of 'Starman' which I have manipulated slightly to give a more 'in concert' sound and then edited to match the footage.

This video was not made for profit, just for other fans to enjoy.

Check out my other videos of Bowie live in 1972 here:

Turn the lights down low, turn the music up loud - and enjoy!

In '75 I was working at Tower Sunset. Bowie came in alone to buy some albums. No makeup, dressed pretty normal for the times. No one recognized him. I went up to him and said "Bowie incognito". He just smiled and put his finger to his lips. The '70's were great. So many top musicians came in the store without an entourage. Elton, Joni, Stevie Wonder, Led Zeppelin to name just a few.

Bowie didn't really die, he just transformed into a being of pure energy and is flying across the cosmos making cosmically amazing music.

Bowie was one of those gems who actually sounded better live than he did on the album. I'm a millenial who discovered his genius a little late and he is constantly blowing my mind.

It was my 65th birthday a couple of days ago. I was in my first year at Southend School of Art when me and four of my mates took my Mini to see him at Aylesbury. You probably have no idea how subversive and attractive he was then. I so wanted to be like him, but I've always had the build of a rugby prop. Nonetheless he made such a difference to my life and I've done some amazing things because of his inspiration. Now I'm old, fat and retired but still in my heart is David Bowie. Thank you for this gift.

I believe deep in my heart he became a star.

The Spiders from Mars are one of the most underrated bands in the world. The bass lines are killer. Bowie took over a stage so magnetically that the calibre of the band behind him gets a bit overlooked.

I was 13 when this came out. I'm 60 now and my respect and appreciation for him and his whole glorious body of work only continues to grow. Musician, singer, writer, actor, painter...he was a bright creative flame.

That's the very beginning of his "Ziggy" period. He was so gorgeous here.
Well done Mr. Sussex!
