【Pls look at the top comment first】This is my second time to recommend Dreams to dear melodic rock friends. Check out my former uploading of Dreams "The Fear of Being Alone" and it's never too late to know such an legendary band. About Dreams, I trust they have left deep impression on almost every aor lover with their only debut in 2013. With a human-face clock on the album cover, this epic release is truly impressive as one of the most brilliant aor masterpieces in melodic rock world.
I had thought Dreams was a rare name with only one album when I first knew them on heavyharmonies, but I was wrong when I started to learn more about their background. Limited copies as this album was in, they used to have fame, win popularity and be welcome by fans.
This album was formally released by German label AOR HEAVEN in 2013. It can be considered as a long-awaited come-back album after decade of hibernation, because Dreams is not a newly formed band in the second decade of the 21st Century. The historical background of Dreams can be dated back to 1985, the glorious year when they were founded. Few works as they have, Dreams is well-known among aor fandom since their superb single "The Fear of Being Alone" has been widely spread by pure love from fans. With magic tunes and their marvelous performance, Dreams is a must for aor lovers, bringing a sense of nostalgia. Also, Dreams is a symbol of 1980s young rockers.
Apart from "The Fear of Being Alone", remembered by most listeners, this ballad "Lovin' You Aint Enough" as we are listening to now is what I want to recommend for every romantic soul, the last track from the album. The artistic vibe of this song reminds me of those 1980s soundtracks from romances.
All of their works were written and recorded during late 1980s and early 1990s. This album was produced by Gary Loizzo, father of their keyboardist Todd Loizzo, who is the Ex-lead vocalist of The American Breed in the mid 1960s and a two-time Grammy-nominated recording engineer. Originally, the album was recorded only on cassette and won warm response by loyal followers to hit the headlines on the newspaper 30 years ago. About 30 years ago, cassette was a popular format among young people who loved to listen to music on the road, easy to take along. I post these early pictures of Dreams, and then we can see how young they were as teen boys during mid 1980s. Amazingly, they brought killer songs, what a mighty voice with perfect keyboards and guitar works, very skilled performance from their green ages. When you hear Dreams, they will remind you of the charms of synths and top guitar works from these talented boys.
Unfortunately, faced with flooding grunge in early 1990s, numerous hard rock/melodic rock wizards underwent changes of music world in macroscopic market, including Dreams. So their name and this debut had gradually faded out from market before they started showcasing for various major record labels. So thanks to AOR HEAVEN, this album came out once again. Preciously, this hidden masterpiece almost becomes a must today to be taken into consideration among aor collections when it comes to those epic bands with only one release.
Up to now, they still perform on stage and the reunion of Dreams marks the revival of their rock spirits after 20 years. "The Fear of Being Alone" is always their repertoire for aor fans all over the world. 35 years ago, they were best friends in high school, now they come back for rock. Ups and downs as they underwent, some people still trust they never quit including me. So make their music spread as everlasting hit by sharing it with our friends or any potential aor lovers around us, cheers !
