How to Build a Paver Patio [Like a PRO] Start to Finish

On my barn we have a covered porch that gets used quite a bit. To expand that area for storage and grilling we decided to build a paver patio. To do so we started by digging out the soil about 8 inches below grade. We then compacted 1-2 inches of clear 3/4 inch gravel base to fill any low spots. After covering that with commercial landscape fabric, we compacted another 2-3 inches of that same 3/4" clear gavel for drainage. After getting that leveled and pitched correctly we laid some 3/4 inch steel pipes for guides and added 1 inch of 3/8 inch clear chip stone and screed it even with the pipes. With a good base in place the pavers got installed and edged with paver edging. Finally poly sand was used to fill the joints and lock all the pavers in place. We also added a small privacy fence to hide an AC unit.

Inside Color: Limestone
Soldier Course: Dark Charcoal

was a great video, until I saw you put the weed barrier under the mulch. you will regret that in a couple of years when the mulch breaks down and you have a layer of compost on top of the weed barrier....which is a GREAT seed bed for weeds. Weed barrier works great under rocks to keep them from getting buried in the ground below, but not recommended under mulch.

Hint* use a pump sprayer to wet your saw cut to eliminate the silica dust

I'd really recommend a face shield and proper breathing protection when running that grinder. A nice patio isn't worth much if you're blind or dying of lung cancer.

Looks good, but wow, it costs quite a bit. Just did one myself and everything is so expensive now.

Why did the sod cutter not work? Ground too hard or rocky?
