Cotton is a popular fabric choice among sewists and crafters, and for good reason! With its wide availability in a huge range of prints and styles, it's no surprise that cotton has had a bit of a renaissance in recent years, with many turning to this fabric for its breathable feel.

In particular, finer cottons like lawn, voile, Swiss dot and seersucker have become increasingly popular. They are relatively easy to cut, sew and press, yet lightweight, so provide a lovely balance of structure and drape.

Cotton is one of the easiest fabrics to work with, but still has its quirks. But with the tips in this video, you'll be well on your way to sewing some gorgeous cotton clothes!

Great, useful tips as ever. Having recently made a few garments with both voile and lawn, I found it useful to use spray starch around areas that were more tricky e.g neck openings etc. just added stability but not bulk as interfacing would.

Yay! I chose the same flower liberty print to make my PJs a couple of years ago! Still adore them ❤

This video came out right on time. I ordered dead stock and all it said was cotton. Turns out to be exactly this type of thin cotton I've never bought before.

Thank you for this video 😍 I’m currently making Jaimie’s pyjama bottoms and I’m hemming the pocket pattern cut outs.
Every time I use the sewing machine to zigzag, it gets tangled and the thin material is making it hard to make neat hemming. Is there a hack?
