I Made a Plus Size Edwardian Summer Dress

For my Edwardian haute girl summer look, I made this frilly Edwardian Day Dress, or Lingerie Dress. For this plus size sewing project, I used a pattern from Black Snail Patterns. I have longed to have a white, lacey, Edwardian summer dress and I'm so happy with how it came out! Underneath the dress, I wore my Edwardian Chemise, Edwardian Corset, Edwardian Combinations, Edwardian Petticoat, an Edwardian Bust Improver and an Edwardian Hip Pad. The Gibson Girl look was super popular during this time. Thank you for joining me on costube in my plus size historical costuming and sewing adventures! Stay tuned for CoSy, the Costube Symposium later this month!

I, too, am sewing a white Edwardian day dress for summer. That is, if they work out their shipping problems. I have pattern cut out, the buckram and flowers for the hat and tons of white lace. AllIneedisthe linen! I have been sewing a lot of dresses this spring and summer and watching your videos while I do them. Thank you for a lovely series.

Delightful dress and so well presented; very much enjoyed the warm and low-key mood. Have to look at this pattern!

Oh yay! You look fantastic in that fluffy edwardian dress!
It was so great when both Lucious and Hercules were watching you sew on the mashine. For a second I thought Hercules would play with the moving bit on top (I have no idea what that is called)!
The fabric print on your blouse in the end is absolutly gorgeous! Does it have tiny objects on it besides those lovely flowers?

No doubt, you succeeded! it screams Anne of Green Gables I love it and I love your floral dress too. I wonder where your assistant hid the missing pieces. It is hard to get good help. Since most cats consider humans their staff perhaps it was payback for a momentary lack on your part did you forget to say thank you or something 🙀🤦‍♀️🌟💝🌟👍👍👍👍🖖🖖🖖🖖🤷🏼‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️

I was wondering why I was not seeing your videos as much. Turns out my notifications got changed to all notices, lets hope it stays this time.

I'm in love with this frilly fluffy and lacey gown. It not only has me wanting to make one but one of those huge frilly wide brim hats to go with it.

gosh you're enabling my desire to own more black snail patterns. Now I need to be good and only pick the ones I'll use in the next 6 months.
Also the genius of sewing on the hooks and eyes to the placket before sewing it onto the whole garment is incredible! I've always had a difficult time putting them on because by the end of the project I'm usually a bit sick of looking at it and can't muster the energy to do much more handwork. Even when it shouldn't be difficult do add them on.

I wish I could sew. I need this dress in my life. Imagine it in lavender. Or in black with some ruffles on the skirt. 😍
