Thank you for giving us so much useful information!
The reason that all misses & plus sizes were standardized back in WW II. Women all over the U.S. volunteered to assist in the war effort. The War Department (long before they changed their name to the Department of Defense), required clothing manufacturers to provide uniforms for women. The sizes were all over the chart. Just like now. The pattern companies also adopted these measurements. That’s why our sizes seem so skewed now. As high end fashion designers, names like Christian Dior, Givenchy, Calvin Klein, et., al have been adjusting their sizing to make us feel better by shifting their numbers to give women a morale boost, by making their size 6 fit a size 8, 10 or even 12!

steel, aluminum, alloys were made in the USA. Now we're getting imports made cheaper, paid cheaper. tools do not wear like they did back in the days of mom&grand mothers

Great tips!! Thank you for mentioning the Brother 1034 serger 😊 I’ve been sewing for 60 years but mostly wovens. A Brother 1034 is my first serger and so far all I’ve needed for seam finishing and sewing up knit seams. What capabilities would an upgraded serger offer?
