Wrangler gets a very special participation trophy for not rolling over

For those who haven't looked, the reason this got a Poor was because of the rear dummy's kinematics. The driver scored good, but the rear occupant suffered potential injuries.

Something I think would be interesting to see is aftermarket equipment on this. Most vehicles wouldn't make sense but Jeeps are very commonly accessorized because the aftermarket is HUGE for them. I wonder what this test would look like if they swapped the OEM bumper with a huge steel off-road bumper with a winch, etc. in it. I wonder how that would affect crumple zones and forces upon the occupants? I know they won't do a test like that since they only test OEM but I'd love to know how it would fare.

The Jeep Wrangler has been redesigned for 2024 model year. They’ve added side curtain airbags and seat belt tensioners as well so it might improve on the moderate overlap test as well as the side impact test

Tbh, kinda surprised there was no real door opening deformation and the wheel didn't even break from a direct compression between the wall and Jeep. The rating I was still expecting bad. lol

Please do not buy these for your kids. My parents bought my sister a 2019 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara when she turned 16. She was on her phone and overcorrected after driving off the shoulder. Police said the car did 3 full rolls before landing upright. My sister had serious injuries to her left shoulder, both legs and lots of internal bruising. Thank god she was wearing her seatbelt. She’s a Freggin idiot but soooo thankful she’s alive. They are fun cars but ARE NOT for easily distracted teenagers.

This SUV is so stupidly anicent that it still uses a body on frame construction, making it perform bad, I think the Wrangler should switch to a unibody construction.
