My grandma was always a huge Doors fan. Jim Morrison was her favorite singer on the planet. She passed away today and I played this song for her one last time.

It's the middle of the night. I woke up and had to hear this song, so I'm sitting here listening to it over and over through killer headphones. I'm 64.

it's such a great song. I've been listening to it since 1970, over and over. I'm 76 now.

I used to put my kids to bed with this after their mother died. They were 8. 6. 15 months. Now they're adults. They still play it at night.
Thanks and my love to them

I get tears in my eyes every time I hear this one. It is a very short and melancholy love song about moving on but the music and Jim's voice make it incredibly powerful.

The Doors music just seems to get better and better through time.

I'm a grandmother now and I still listen to the sound of the Doors every chance I get. One of my favorite bands!

This feels like a song that would be great to listen to when you are alone in the dark, your window open and you can hear the wind blowing outside, and the song is loud, just loud enough so that the entire house can hear it in a gentle whisper.

I can only feel pity for the 92 soulless creatures who can listen to this song and then give it a thumbs down.

What a hauntingly beautiful song.I was driving down the 60 freeway in California, it was night time and this song came on the radio.I still remember that moment. This happened over 15 years ago and every time I hear this song, it takes me back to that night. He had such a beautiful deep voice. There's a video of this song without the music, just Jim singing.Wow is all I could say. They don't make music like this anymore.Rip Jim you were one of a kind.

We lost Jim 52 years ago today. Hard to believe, but he would be 80 years old this year if he were still with us. Rest In Peace.

"The days are bright, and filled with pain" Jim Morrison is singing about my mental and emotional universe. Their best song from their best album. Morrison's most transcendental poetry is on the Doors debut. This song opened doors in my mind that will never close again. "The streets are fields that never die" Morrison was a Dionysian shaman!

I grew up listening to many artists. The doors are my childhood playlist thanks to my dad. I love Jim.

At least once a year I pull out this album and play it through. It's near perfect.

You would think this song would have more hits!  This album was pure quality.  From track to track; it flowed magnificently.  It could perhaps be the best debut album, from any band.... ever.

absolute masterpiece. Masterful melancholy mood and Jim's hauntingly beautiful voice plus a killer piano solo. One of the greatest songs ever written and arguably the best Doors song. I wish I had been a teenager in the 60s. Such a great period for music. The Doors, the Beatles, the rolling stones etc. Possibly the best. And I wish Jim Morrison hadn't died so young. The Doors would have continued to make great music for sure. Still, I can still enjoy the 60s bands on CD! 🙂
