This is a recording of a meeting of the Chicago Bar Association Legal Aid Committee.

Launched in 2015, the North Lawndale Restorative Justice Community Court (RJCC) is a community-led restorative justice movement rooted in the belief that court-involved youth belong in the community, not in detention. The RJCC engages in activities such as peace circles, advocacy, and connection to social services.

The RJCC utilize pillars of 1) accompaniment; 2) building relationships with youth and family; 3) relentless engagement of organizations and resources; and 4) collaboration and relationships with other community courts to decrease violence in North Lawndale and increase peer support and life expectations. Come hear from RJCC Attorneys, RJCC Case Managers, and other RJCC representatives about how the RJCC works, lessons learned from the first few years of the program, and what the future holds for the RJCC in North Lawndale and beyond.
