What's the point if these are only targeting 10% returns? You can get that in the S&P over time.

Why wouldn't the hedge fund just take out a life insurance policy on you instead of buying yours for a mark up? If a hedge buys them for more than you paid couldn't you just take out a bunch of policies on yourself and sell them all for a profit? Infinite money loop through easy arbitrage.
