It is a southern suburb of Athens and next to the one I am living. It has 73.076 pop. It was named after the city Smyrna (today's Izmir in Turkey) from where a large number of refugees arrived and settled in the Nea Smyrni area following the 1922 population exchange between Greece and Turkey. Nea Smyrini means New Smyrna.

Nice video; brought back memories. Only real difference between when I lived there several decades ago looks like the style of cars!

The park where people go to run it is called Αλσοςand I would go there every time I would skip school. We would buy 1/2 a pack of Καρελια and 3-4 friend would go there instead of going to school.
