You are the first person I have heard (other than myself) who has logically put together the issues that may be caused regarding deception, specifically lying to children about Santa Clause. Trust issues, ABSOLUTELY. We told our children when they were quite young. Why? Two reasons:
We don’t want to betray their trust.
and
We believe it is good for our children know where the gifts under the tree come from. From parents who work hard, everyday. It also teaches appreciation, without work we would not be able to enjoy such things as Christmas, Birthdays etc. the way we do.
