Wow. I'm so humbled and touched you devoted nearly 3 hours for this presentation. I am an immigrant in CA but before I left my lands so much literature and history was wiped out. My soul cried. It's nice to know there are still people on earth interested in the history of my people enough to bring their research and express here. I was in Vatican and there i was stunned to find an 4th century Armenian map in stone. I could not believe my eyes.

The Armenians are some really tough motherf<ckers. They just refuse to be extinct no matter the odds against them.

Thanks for preparing this presentation. As an Armenian, I would like to say unfortunately we do not have many historical books translated to English which I wish there were people who were doing so as it would connect many historical missing point.
However, couple of points I would like to clarify:
Armenians were not separatist. They were indigenous people living in Artsakh, as you may know. Stalin in exchange for 7million war prisoners gave the land of today’s Azerbaijan and later on Artsakh to Turks and international community recognized it as what is it today. Basically, Armenians paid the price of 7 million Russian soldiers prisoners. By giving their lands to them. The deal was that we would give those lands to Turkic speaking people, BUT not as part of Turkey, rather separate country.
2nd point- Armenian history goes back to neoandertals era and prehistoric era and the most ancient Stonehenge which is very fascinating and gives such a great footprints about how those people and how they move throughout history.

Looking forward to Part Two! Other than the Armenian genocide, I know very little of Armenian history. Many thanks AM, Marcus and Gudea - what a great guest!

Cheers AM and guests. Hardly any knowledge about Armenia prior to this, which I found fascinating. Looking forward to more.

This was amazing guys. Thank you for the in depth analysis of Armenia. This provides so many jumping off points for my own research into my people's history as I relearn the language to read some of the older historical texts my parents and in-laws brought with them from the old country.

Azerbaijan only became a republic/country in 1918. Azerbaijan, land, was part of Persian Empire till 1828. They lost a war, 1826-1828, to Russian Empire and surrendered the land to Russia. Russians called it Tatarstan. Joseph Stalin the head of Soviet Union called it Azerbaijan in mid 1930s to please Turkiye. He put Artsakh, NK, 95%, Armenian under Azeri control to please Turkiye. Azerbajian celebrated its 104th Anniversary in May 2022.

I admit some of this went over my head, having no prior knowledge of armenia beyond what you'd find in an atlas. But im interested in the idea, if i understood correctly, that it is a nation that straddles antiquity and the middle ages in terms of its formation, in comparison to nations in europe where there is more of a break between antiquity and the middle ages. Even if i misunderstood that, an interesting history nonetheless that i look forward to revisiting. Thanks for the stream

Thank you very much for such an amazing job. Unfortunately, most of the scholars who have studied the Urartian language do not speak nor command the Armenian language ( from Grapar to classic Armenian, the Armenian language from different periods and the language has changed drastically grammatically preserving the core vocabulary, or such as indicative, personal pronouns etc. ) which allows them to come to biased conclusions. For comparative analysis, one can refer to for example books written by Sargis Ayvazyan who quite well analyzes Armenian-Urartian lexicon and grammatical evolution of the Armenian language. Before 1920s the Urartian language was widely considered/accepted Armenian or an Armenian dialect (most probably around Van region) that came into close relationship with other languages in the region, however, in the beginning of 20th century, Ataturks started their Anti- Armenian preach and falsification of the history connected to the Armenian highlands fabricating the indigenous heritage of Turks and leaving out Armenians from the region, whereas Armenians are the only truly owners of the millennia old history in the Armenian highlands. within Soviet Russia and Ataturk Turkey tandem, Armenians were even deprived of writing down Urartian history as theirs ( such as a huge falsifier Russian Diaganoff) and until now a huge amount of funds are provided to universities around the world through grands to continue the falsification.

There are no Armenians in Azerbaijan. Anyone with a last name ending in Ian or Yan is automatically kicked out or arrested
