Recently some members from the Honkai Series story team sat down for an interview to talk about the development of the series and their plans for its future. And I thought it'd be fun to talk about!

Mihoyo's philosophy really is "fight for all that is beautiful in this world; may you, the beauty of this world, always shine."

The crossover has left me relatively certain that Sparkle is Aha's current meat puppet. The way she is treated in the meta-narrative of the games, the lore feats and behavior of Aha and the already defined minimum requirements needed for her to be able to sightsee like this in the first place makes it the best option for her real identity.

Something that really helps with understanding the "core" of variant characters is Raiden, I think. In Genshin, HSR, and HI3 (and of course, GGZ), Raidens are vastly different characters, but they are all built upon an obsession over something. For Mei, it's her obsession over Kiana, for Ei, it's an obsession over Eternity, and for Acheron, it's her obsession over reaching IX. Idk, just thought it was neat.

When you showed Kosma in 12:26 I remembered the real purpose of Project Ark and it made me tear up bad holyy. He wasn't supposed to venture out in the universe to find a habitable planet, his mission was to hide until annihilation came, then return to earth and spread the kindlings over his comrades 'bodies'. All to ignite civilization again. 😭

i dont know much about hi3 or hsr but like. i just wanna say the whole variant thing is giving "okay your OC but in xyz AU" and i love that bc i feel that on a personal level

Just as small note i'm pretty sure Sparkle, Sampo and the pink memokeeper that calls herself a photographer who might be secretly March appear on Earth before Welt goes to space.

another reason to praise hoyo for being so loyal to their philosophy. I have seen tons of unreasonable criticism to their plot choices but at the end of the day I could never find myself agreeing with them cause I play these same games of hoyo and I see this philosophy of theirs right there - and the journey of hoyoverse games is actually inspiring and very creative. those people to reduce and undervalue games like genshin, hsr, zzz to simple gachas and "only endgame matters" styled games is just insane to me, these are literally works of art imho

I am surprised I never had your channeled recommended until now. I been playing all 4 games and started HI3rd in 2019. (though earlier if you count none global).

Everything you said really resonated with me as a player. I been watching a lot of Content creators who don't fully read the story or understand it and say confusing things and seeing what you said makes me really happy. 16:21 To add to this, we’re also about to get a character who seems to share similarities with Acheron: Castorice. Both characters are related to a river in hell after all, with Acheron being named after the river Acheron and Castorice being described as “the Daughter of the River Styx” in the Amphoreus trailer. This may imply that Castorice, like Acheron, is an Emanator of Nihility.

Yeah. I wish for the Flamechaser variants to have a happier ending, especially Pardofelis (the cat girl).

Her story in HI3 is just so tragic, but epic at the same time, I want to see her live through whatever self-sacrifice she is forced into.

Context: Pardofelis is a plain street hussler. She ended up among the 13 heroes out of pure coincidence. She is the weakest and never wanted to be a hero, but she ended up going out like one by sacrificing herself to give the others a chance to escape (twice if you include what her copy did in the Elysian Realm)

8:19 well, let me throw a little bit of fuel in the fire of the whole expy thing. Right now we don't know if the universe is infinite or finite. We have an edge to what we can see (what we refer to as the observable universe) but we know it goes beyond that just on math alone. And if we focus on the idea that the universe is infinite, then that includes the possibility of another You out there, in another Earth, over and over, to infinity. So this could technically be used to explain why we have almost carbon copies of the characters between both franchises, or characters who are similar. Hoyoverse might just be in an infinite universe.

Yeah that philosophy reads crystal clear in my opinion. Every time I play a story quest in their games, I feel like they are directly talking to me and hope that I personally will have and help build a better future.
