How To End The Simpsons.

With The Simpsons making headlines again by canonically killing off another character, and not even a speaking one but the smallest, background character unnoticed for the decades. It's been leading me to ask the same controversial thought about the Simpsons Franchise. How long is this really going to go on for? And at what point do we call it quits? Will we keep getting canonical Simpson deaths until the roster is unfunctional, or do we get the even MORE grim reality of waiting until the real cast kick the bucket? What is the best ending for The Simpsons Franchise and how soon should it reasonably be done? Well here's my two cents on the matter. This, is How To End The Simpsons.

I mean... I guess? Bleeding Gums Murphey, Maude Flanders, Frank Grimes, Krusty's dad, Mona Simpson, Edna Krabappel and Fat Tony all died and had plots revolved around that fact for a while.

I very much agree. It'd be a shame if we get to Season 99 and NONE of the original voice cast are still alive, that all of their voices have been digitally captured and recreated using AI. That none of the charm and the magic of it is still there.

A way I can see the Simpsons ending is with another movie of them trying to escape the limbo they're in.
I think that would be cool, seeing the family realise they've been stuck for the last roughly 35 years (as of writing) and try to change that.
Have the ending be like a montage of all the stuff that would've happend if time didn't stand still, Maggie growing up, Bart and Lisa graduating, that sorta stuff.
And then have a scene where an old Homer and Marge are just enjoying the retired life, sitting outside on a summer evening, watching the sunset.

I would say this show would get a proper ending once James L. Brooks retires from the Hollywood industry since he's currently 83 years old (he's gonna be 84 this month on the 9th).

cartoon characters are their voice actors, so even if the simpsons out live their voices, the show would finally, truly end there

Hey here’s a thought. I remember back when the first Simpsons Movie came out, there was a commercial interview asking Matt Groening and others questions. One of them was if the theme song had any lyrics. Yes and only Matt Groening and Danny Elfman know them. If the Simpsons are ever gonna end, they have to give us the full theme song.

I think the thing to ask is, is it relevant enough to keep going? Would anyone *really* miss it if it did end now, if they could go out on a high note? Where does The Simpsons even fit into pop culture now? The episodes might have improved recently, but this show peaked a very long time ago.

Ameircan Dad! at least rebranded like 100%. When one of the creators left it did a 180°, got new characters, tossed out a ton of characters, the plot-beat changed, it got funnier and maybe more relatable to the audience that stuck around and grew up with it. I remember as a kid seeing the world of warcraft episode as a WoW playing teen thinking it was hammy and missed the mark, but latest season klaus stoned playing eldenring as an astrologer, right on the money😂

For me it would be good enough if the show ends with season 40 (a nice round number) that would bring the stories of the side characters to a close and a second movie right after for a banger ending.
