The number you're seeing is a split adjusted stock price in 2004.

Right now if you still had a Tesla share from six years ago... It would be around six grand a share.., but the keep splitting the stock because everyone wanted to buy it, so they price looks low for people... ....
Now once it reaches it market cap it starts reverse splitting makeing the price look big..

seems like stock splits aka splitting to make more affordable and after multiple times (say 10) you can go from a big number to a small number after multiple splits.
