Equipped with a custom bed, custom body, custom suspension, custom drivetrain, and custom patina, there isn't much about this Jeep YJ that isn't designed from the ground up. Ian Johnson, TV host, owner of Big Tire Garage, and all around mechanical wizard, took an idea he had in his head, and sculpted it to make it his own in the form of his "Shop Truck" build. Inspired by the AEV Brute, the Shop Truck takes on its own personality; utilitarian, capable, and honest. And of course...V8 power.

Ian is a great guy who is always willing to answer a question about anything off road or bourbon related (lol). Learning how the shop truck came to be was an interesting and fun story.

Love that YJ truck, it's pretty much perfect in every way.

Only problem I have is you saying no one wants a YJ. There are tons of squared eyed freaks like me out there.

I like Tj's and Jk for what they are, but they'll never compare to a YJ. You won't see those fancy jeep guys running topless in the winter loving their life. Instead they are crying about water intrusion and leaky tops, and starting lawsuits over death wobble.

The YJ was the first generation wrangler, but it kept the leafs, and rugged experience of the CJ. It takes work to drive, work to keep it running, and it will repay you every minute of your time and more.

Got to see this truck a couple of years ago at Lima, Ohio Jamboree. Simple, well built. Ian was very nice and answered every question with enthusiasm. Miss him on Power Block TV...

The more I listen to Ian, the more I identify & respect him. There’s no feeling in the world that comes close to running down the freeway in a truck or hot rod that you brought back from the dead, the build is just as much fun as every other aspect of hot rodding.

happy to see old iron that was "built not bought". I can't stand seeing the same old cookie cutter JK/JL BS with angry eyes and light bars driven by people that don't even change their own oil. Great Jeep, great builder and great video.

Ive been wanting to see more of this truck since i seen it on UA. Thanks for finally making a video of it as its been a dream to turn my 92 yj into a pickup. Love it dude! I had an early 70's J10 as a teenager with a 360 and a 3 speed. Miss it all the time. Great video, enjoyed it!
